These books, on the whole tend to be written with the older child reader in mind. Swiveling her head a full 90 degrees to the left, Lowry has now decided to write a book with the younger child readers in mind. Hence, the creation and subsequent publication of the adorable, "Gooney Bird Greene". And laugh-out-loud funny, too. Teachers in grades 1-4 are going to love reading this one in classrooms. We borrowed it on Friday and she finished reading it on the same day. She absolutely loved it! I read it after she read it and I LOVED it! It's great way to teach young children the art of telling stories and Gooney Bird Greene is such a FUN character! Each story she tells is absolutely true and they are absolutely fun stories! I have recommended this book to my daughter's other second grade friends and they all loved it! We enjoyed this book so much that I want to get a copy for my 3 year old so she can read it when she's old enough! |
